PetSafe In-Ground Fence. Comfort Fit
Collar
Standard Transmitter w/ Std. Wire
The PetSafe Radio
Fence Pet Containment System is the Best, most Versatile Pet Fence ever made!
PetSafe is the leader in Underground Fences. Their underground dog fences carry
a LifeTime Warranty.
How Underground Fencing Works: The Transmitter plugs into a standard
outlet and emits a radio signal that travels along an underground wire. The
lightweight receiver worn on your pet's collar picks up the radio signal and
alerts him as he nears the underground boundary that you have customized for
your yard. If he continues toward the boundary, he will receive a mild
correction, similar to a static shock.
The maintenance free design and ease of installation offers tremendous savings
compared to conventional fencing and other systems of this type. Petsafe fences
use the Asics Chip, the only microprocessor designed specifically for the
dog fencing industry. This microprocessor has 3,000 filters to eliminate the
possibility of interference. These systems use inexpensive commonly available
batteries or long life battery modules and are the only UL Classified and FCC
Certified systems on the market. The transmitter, receiver, and power adapter
are UL Approved. In addition, the Deluxe Ultralight Receiver is the smallest and
lightest receiver available, 1.4 oz. including batteries.

Frequently Asked Questions about Underground Fencing
Question - Does the correction
cause pain or harm to my dog? Answer - Absolutely not. The
correction is safe, painless and humane. While the correction is
unpleasant, it is harmless to your pet. Electronic training devices
require interaction and training from the owner to achieve desired
results. Most fences come with comprehensive video and training manuals.
These tools were developed with veterinarians and animal behaviorists to
ensure safety and peace of mind for you and your pet.
Question - How old does a dog have to be before starting training?
Answer - This is somewhat breed dependent ranging from 3 to 4 months
based on the breed and system purchased. Our programmable collar, UL275,
can be set at a lower level during training, and the stimulus raised as
the dog gets older.
Question - What is the best way to take the dog out of the boundary?
Answer - The technique we recommend is called "doormat
training". You simply take the dog's collar off and lead him to the
boundary on a leash. Lay down a doormat where the dog's warning would
usually begin. Use treats to encourage the dog to look at the mat while
crossing it. Take the dog in and out using this method, and leave off
the treats after the dog is trained. When you return to your house have
the dog cross the doormat, pick it up, and you are in. Put the dog's
collar back on him, and if he goes to the boundary his collar will beep
and he will know he is contained.
Question - If a dog is running through the system at only one spot in
the yard, how is this corrected? Answer - Set him up at this
location. For example, have him on a long leash and then have someone
else walk by that spot or walk their dog by that spot. When the dog
attempts to leave - pull him back with the leash and then redirect him
with the "sit" and "stay" commands.
Question - What is the dummy collar effect? Answer - This is a
procedure where the collar is eliminated as a factor in learning. In
other words, the dog wears the collar without it being activated for 3-5
days. This way the dog does not learn that the collar causes the
correction, but rather getting too close to the yard boundary causes the
correction. This keeps the dog from being afraid of the collar.
Question - How long should an owner take to create the dummy collar
effect? Answer - On the average, it will take at least 3 days and as
long as 7 days.
Question - The first time the dog receives the correction should he
be on or off a leash? Answer - On the leash. This way the owner can
easily redirect the dog to the appropriate behavior.
Question - How long should the owner leave the flags up? Answer -
The flags should remain up for at least 2 weeks, but in some cases as
long as 30 days.
Question - Can I use this system to train my dog to stop jumping over
or digging under wood or metal fences? Answer - Yes. In fact
approximately 40% of those buying a Radio Fence already own an existing
physical fence
